As a health and dental specialist, who do you partner with for other benefits?

In short, we can partner with anyone, while still offering the “single carrier feel”. GreenShield’s Online Administration offers an option for multiple-carrier administration and billing — eliminating the need to duplicate efforts associated with two carrier administration systems. Plan sponsors can administer all aspects of their benefit plan, like producing a premium billing statement and remitting payment directly to the life and disability benefits carrier(s).

Who is your pharmacy benefit management partner?

We’re our own pharmacy benefit manager. We do not outsource this critical role — we built our own technology and manage it ourselves. That means real-time support without waiting on overnight feeds from third parties.

Do you allow health and dental providers to submit claims online?

Sure do. providerConnect® is a web portal for pharmacy, extended health and dental providers. It offers access to the most robust provider registry in our industry, secure services for direct deposit and online claiming (where applicable), claim forms, administration guidelines and more. In addition to the instant processing of drug and dental claims that our technology allows, providers can also submit claims online via Secure Services.

Where are claims processed?

Paper claims are processed at our head office in Windsor, but since over 90% of our claims are received electronically and processed in under five seconds, we’re processing claims from pharmacies and provider offices across Canada.

What is your typical team structure for servicing accounts?

To meet the specific needs of clients in different market segments, GreenShield’s team structure includes a Mid-Market Team (50 to 999 lives) and a Large Market Team, positioning us to deliver a superior level of service.

GreenShield can slice and dice data in countless ways, and our suite of reporting (standard, custom, ad-hoc) gives administrators and advisors everything they need.

Individual Customers

When/how do I receive my benefits cards?

Your GreenShield ID benefits cards will be included in your Welcome Kit. Generally speaking, you’ll receive it within seven business days. It will be delivered by Canada Post in a large GreenShield envelope.

Your contract will be included in your Welcome Kit. Generally speaking, you’ll receive it within seven business days. It will be delivered by Canada Post in a large GreenShield envelope.

What does my Welcome Kit include?

Your Welcome Kit includes your GreenShield ID benefits cards, contract, schedule of benefits, a claims form and some general info we know will be helpful — like how to make a claim online and sign up for direct deposit so you don’t have to wait for claims cheques to arrive in the mail.

When are payments due?

Your first payment for one month’s premium will be taken when your application is approved. The next payment (for one month’s premium) will be taken on or about your coverage effective date (depending on the day of the week the first of the month falls). This ensures your payments (and benefits!) are secure a month in advance.

Subsequent payments are taken on or around the first of every month.

What if I need treatment before I receive my Welcome Kit?

If you need treatment after your effective date and before your Welcome Kit arrives in the mail, we’d suggest that you pay for the service and ensure you get a receipt that outlines the details and expenses. When you receive your Welcome Kit, it will include a claim form. You can complete and send it to GreenShield, along with the receipts. You’ll be reimbursed for the expenses eligible under your plan. If you want to get reimbursed faster, we encourage you to sign up for our secure self-serve website where you can submit claims and sign up for direct deposit.

What can I do online?

With GreenShield plans, you can do a lot online. Once you receive your Welcome Kit, register for GSC everywhere online services and you can submit claims online, sign up for direct deposit (no more waiting for cheques to arrive in the mail), check your coverage eligibility, find providers who submit electronically to GreenShield (so you don’t have to), and much more. What can I do on mobile?

Download the free GSC everywheremobile app and you’ll get access to your benefits from everywhere. Here are some of the app features: show your GreenShield ID benefits card electronically, submit claims right from your mobile device, find and get directions to providers who submit claims electronically directly to GreenShield (so you don’t have to), check your coverage and eligibility, and access the Change4Life® portal, which offers health tips, trackers and a chance to earn points you can use to win great rewards.

Is my information and sessions with therapists confidential?

Video and voice sessions are not recorded or stored on our servers. An encrypted link for your session is made directly between you and your care provider.

GreenShield Health offers Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to keep employees mentally healthy and motivated with effective and affordable mental health solutions, including secure virtual counselling, personalized therapist matching services and digital-first employee wellness programs.

What is GreenShield Health, and how does it work?

GreenShield Health is a digital mental health platform aiming to improve your mental health at home, work and beyond. We offer accessible, affordable, and effective digital mental health solutions for individuals and organizations using secure virtual counselling, personalized therapist matching services and digital-first employee wellness programs.

How is GreenShield Health different from other digital therapy platforms?

GreenShield Health removes barriers to accessing the right support and matches you with qualified mental health practitioners based on your unique needs and preferences. All activity, including confidential video/voice sessions, booking and payment, happens on our platform for convenience and maximum security and confidentiality.

How do you match me with the right mental health practitioner?

GreenShield Health provides a unique matching survey that helps us effectively evaluate your specific needs to match you with the right practitioner. By answering a few quick questions, we’ll be able to determine your best fit based on factors such as symptoms, stressors, language, and therapists who share your culture and values. You can also review things like clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches and more.

How much does it cost?

GreenShield Health provides 15-minute complimentary consultations with each new practitioner a client selects. After the initial complimentary consultation, clients will pay the rate outlined in their practitioner’s profile, should they choose to continue with them. Individual therapy sessions start at $90 per hour.

Who are the therapists, and how are they verified?

GreenShield Health practitioners undergo a stringent vetting process before becoming part of our network. Our practitioners include licensed Master-level counsellors, social workers, psychotherapists, and psychologists who are in good standing with their provincial or state boards. They are experienced in various clinical settings and must obtain specific designations to practice.

How are my personal information and privacy protected?

Personal information, including name, address, practitioners’ notes, and documents, are stored on a dedicated server with a protected network in Canada or the USA (depending on your location). This data is encrypted at the highest possible level, and the server is audited regularly to ensure it meets the highest standards of best security practices (SOC 2 certified).

Pharmacy

How does an online pharmacy work?

As an online (digital) pharmacy, we deliver your medication to you, so you don't need to travel to the pharmacy or wait in long lines. You choose how you want your medications packaged and shipped directly to you for free.

Can I speak with a pharmacist to discuss my medications and my health?

Our pharmacists can be contacted by phone during business hours or book an appointment to meet by phone or secure video call. They will take the time to discuss your medications and answer your questions (in any language) confidentially from the comfort and privacy of your home, office, or wherever is convenient for you.

How can I sign up?

Create an account, upload or transfer your prescriptions, let us know where you want it shipped, and then add a few more details for submitting to insurance and payments.

How is GreenShield Health different from other digital therapy platforms?

What if I already have a pharmacy?

We take care of that for you. We can transfer some or all your medications from another pharmacy to GreenShield Pharmacy. Some restrictions may apply.

How do I transfer my prescription from another pharmacy?

Choose “Fill a Prescription” and then the “Transfer” option. Fill out your current pharmacy’s contact info and note which medications you’d like transferred. We will contact your current pharmacy and request a transfer of your prescriptions and insurance information. We will get in touch with you to discuss your medications.

What if I run out of refills?

We can contact your doctor to get refills on your prescriptions.

What pharmacist consultations do you offer?

Our pharmacists are trained to assess medications and recommend therapy changes to support better health outcomes. This includes consultations and medication reviews, assessing and writing a prescription* for minor ailments, travel consultations, and more.
